The Boldest Wedding Favors Out There!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: Boldest, favors, There, Wedding — admin @ 11:20 am

The days of the “blushing bride” are over! In times past it was expected that the bride would be demure, shy, and even timid, but those days are long gone. Today’s bride is often a career oriented, successful woman that is not shy about her choices when it comes to every detail of her wedding, and nowhere in the wedding ceremony is this more obvious than her choice of wedding favors. How so?

Think of the statement that many wedding favors make about the bride, her groom, and their life together. For example, many today are giving out packets of seeds and even small plants or saplings. This of course shows their concern for the environment. Some brides are choosing small tokens of their favorite hobby or passion, such as models of motorcycles or paperweights with the Harley Davidson logo on them, if the bride is a “biker chick” and not afraid to show it. Another popular choice by way of wedding favors is key chains or tokens from a favorite museum, especially one that celebrates her heritage or family. For example, don’t be surprised if you were to receive a souvenir from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian or the African American Heritage Museum at a wedding in the near future. These types of wedding favors make a bold statement from the bride that her family, and her family’s heritage and history, are very important to her.

Another way that wedding favors are becoming bolder – and this is true for all parts of the wedding – is the colors of the favors themselves. It used to be that the “appropriate” colors for a wedding needed to be soft and so-called feminine, such as pastels and mint greens. However, today’s popular color choices for bridesmaid dresses and all other accessories are usually warmer and stronger. Think of shades of warm brown and russet; typically the bride herself might wear a sash of one of these shades as well. Mint green has been replaced with shades of hunter or forest. It’s also not unusual anymore to see a combination of two strong colors such as red and black being used for accessories, invitations, decorations, and even wedding favors.

Of course, many of the standard choices in wedding favors are still popular, including bags of chocolates or personalized candy bar wrappers. However, these too are becoming bolder as the bride is choosing stronger colors for the bags of loose candy and ties that are strings of crystal beads or ribbons in black and red or those warm brown shades. In recent years, many designs for personalized candy bar wrappers are also becoming bolder and more unique, with some companies providing designs that are not just elegant and traditional, but also fun and whimsical or modern designs that are clean and simple with an art deco feel. To see how these types of wrappers would work as wedding favors, visit The Knot or Favors and Wraps and see the wide variety they currently have in their catalog.

It’s unlikely that a bride’s choices in wedding favors and all other accessories for her wedding are going to start being more subtle as time goes on, as many brides are finding that these bold choices are a welcome change from what they’ve seen in weddings from generations past, and guests appreciate how unique and personal these choices really are.

Going Overboard With the Cheap Wedding Favors!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: Cheap, favors, Going, Overboard, Wedding — admin @ 11:10 am

Have you ever been to a wedding reception and gotten a favor that was so cheap and tacky you wondered why the couple even bothered handing it out? Hopefully this has never happened to you, but if you’ve been to enough weddings in your lifetime, it may very well have! If you’re a bride planning your own wedding, how can you be sure that you won’t make this same mistake and pick out some cheap wedding favors that are just plain old too cheap? There are some easy tips and hints you should keep in mind when shopping and planning, and by remembering them you’ll be much less likely to get cheap wedding favors that make YOUR guests feel like you shouldn’t have even bothered.

What you want to absolutely avoid by way of cheap wedding favors are items that look as if you just didn’t care enough to shop or prepare them at all. Anyone can go to the local dollar store and pick out some plastic little doodads that are three-to-a-pack and call them wedding favors, but what does this say about you? How does it express your appreciation to your guests for getting dressed up, finding a babysitter, driving all that way, getting you a gift, and so on?

Wanting to make your favors at home is a great idea, and many that are searching for cheap wedding favors should be prepared to do some of the work in creating or assembling these items themselves. However, you need to be realistic in this regard. As an example, suppose you want to give your guests some nice bookmarks; these can actually be very practical and appreciated as cheap wedding favors. Most people have a computer at home on which they can make up the bookmarks themselves, and then you can easily take this to a local office supply store and have them print the needed quantity. But how good are you really when it comes to graphic design? Take a look at bookmarks that you see in the stores or online – how does your design compare? If you just get some clip art and throw it on the page with some wording, this isn’t going to impress anyone. Again, your guests may be wondering why you bothered with such cheap wedding favors in the first place. For an item like this, you might do well to enlist the help of a friend that is skilled in this sort of thing to help you with the design.

Or suppose you decide to make sugar cookies in the shape of a heart or wedding cake and hand these out individually. This too may be a good option for cheap wedding favors, but how good are you at decorating? If you just slap some frosting on the front of the cookie, how will this look? This too might require the help of a friend that is experienced with baking and decorating, or at the very least, scour the internet for inspiring photos and try some “practice” cookies until you get the design just right.

Remember that what makes a gift the best is not always the money spent on it, but the time and effort put into selecting it. The same goes with your cheap wedding favors; you can find just the right item without spending a lot of money, if you’re willing to put some time and effort into doing just that.

Cutting Down on the Expense of Personalized Wedding Favors

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: Cutting, Down, Expense, favors, Personalized, Wedding — admin @ 12:16 pm

Most brides today want some type of personalized wedding favors; after all, wedding favors are meant as a reminder of that special day and this means having their name and wedding date somehow included on those favors.  But do any type of shopping today for personalized wedding favors and you’ll see that these can be somewhat expensive, some costing four or five dollars per piece and even more than that in many cases!  So how can you cut down on this particular expense for your wedding but not compromise how beautiful and unique this option is?  There are actually some simple ways to do this.

Many couples today want personalized wedding favors that include a favorite photo of them.  However, give this some consideration.  You may love this photo of you and think that the favors look wonderful with it, but what about your friends and family?  Will they really want to use coasters with your faces on them?  Or keep a key chain with that picture dangling from their keys?  There may be several guests who immediately think that this type of item is just a bit tacky, if not downright pushy.

Including the option for a photo is usually the biggest expense when it comes to personalized wedding favors, more so than just your names and date, and may include a set-up charge along with the charge for the favors themselves.  Ask yourself if this option is really worth the expense for an item that your guests may not even appreciate or enjoy using anyway.

Another big expense when it comes to personalized wedding favors is the need to have your name and date engraved in the item.  Anything crystal, silver, pewter or another hard element is probably going to cost you more than anything made of paper.  For instance, if you look at most small crystal paperweights that are offered as wedding favors, you’ll see that they typically cost around four dollars per item, whereas most personalized candy bar wrappers are less than a dollar.  This may be a small difference per item, but consider how many guests you’re having at your wedding.  A three-dollar difference in favors, multiplied by the hundred guests you’re inviting, means an additional three hundred dollars for those paperweights alone.  Since most couples today are trying to plan a wedding on a budget, choosing a more affordable option for personalized wedding favors may not be a bad way to go.

Of course, if you have some talent you can always make up your own personalized wedding favors by way of bookmarks you create yourself and have printed at the office supply store, or sugar cookies decorated with your names and date.  These are not only affordable options, they’re also very creative and a fun way for the bride to express her thanks to her guests.

In the past few years, the business of personalized wedding favors has been booming, with an endless variety of options for brides.  This is good news for those looking to save a few dollars on this part of the wedding and reception, as there are many affordable and still very nice choices, if you do a bit of shopping and comparison.

Picking Unique Wedding Favors

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: favors, picking, Unique, Wedding — admin @ 10:56 am

When it comes to wedding favors you have to pick from typical wedding favors, elegant wedding favors, wine wedding favors and a million other similar layouts for your wedding. Basically, when you have so much to choose from, how are you to make the right choice or at least, where do you begin picking? If you are wondering where should you pick your wedding favors from, I will inform you that it is the least of your problems – a brief research on your favorite search engine will lead you to more than a few thousand online shops that provide wedding favors. What we should focus on is the way these wedding favors will be picked. Below you will find a series of useful tips based on which you can make the right choice, or at least narrow down the huge number of wedding favors you might like.

Follow the theme – By now you must surely have an idea of how your wedding will look like – whether you will have a theme-wedding, or if you will go for a classic one. No matter which you choose, the wedding favors should follow the theme. If you have not decided on how the wedding will look like, if you have not decided on the marking elements then simply postpone the process of buying wedding favors because otherwise you might end up having to buy a new ones, or use the ones that simply do not fit the theme.
Picking a theme for your wedding – Assuming you have not already picked one, you will find this information rather useful. Weddings nowadays are easier to organize since there are quite a number of places you can rent, and decorating the place is cheaper than it used to be (since materials are cheaper and so on) – you can decorate it on your own, and not hire professionals to do that and you will feel the difference in your budget. In any way, a themed wedding is more interesting and will leave a different mark on your memory – not to mention that will be more attuned to who you are.
Unique wedding favors – If you have picked some hip or trendy theme for your wedding then unique wedding favors are simply in order – you will have to pick some rather unusual ones to fit the whole picture.

How to Find Unique Wedding Favors

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: favors, Find, Unique, Wedding — admin @ 1:08 pm

Every bride hopes that their wedding favors will be unique to any her guests will have received before. But have you ever noticed no matter how many websites you visit or stores you browse around, all the wedding favors seem to be the same?

Wedding favors are big business & many retailers, especially those online, are taking advantage of drop shipping schemes run by wholesalers & retailers to offer wedding favors alongside their other products. It may seem to many that unique wedding favors are non-existent & in fact choices are limited to the favor ranges they see before them.

But with some imagination & a bit of creativity you can create unique wedding favors. Here are a few tips on how to do it.

Packaging – presentation of your favors is every bit as important as the favors themselves. Choose packaging which coordinates with your wedding colors or theme. If you can’t find it in your colors then choose a plain neutral color & accent it with ribbons, stickers or some other embellishment. Pretty packaging can turn the plain & ordinary into something oh so unique!

DIY – Creating your own wedding favors is not as daunting as you think. Cookie favors are very popular & extremely quick & inexpensive to produce. If you are not confident about producing the iced creations you may have seen in magazines, why not make mini chocolate chip cookies or shortbreads? Remember your packaging can give you all the decoration you need.

Personalize it – many of the wedding favor sites will offer personalization on many of its favors. This certainly makes them unique, adding your own wedding monogram to a chocolate wrapper or items such as golf balls will certainly make them unique & unlike anything your guests will have received before!

Go Artisan – Look for unusual craft sites or specialist shops for local crafts or artisan goods. Asian shops can provide a wealth of little goodies perfect for wedding favors or go online to websites such as “Etsy” for some beautiful & unique handicrafts.

Picture this – Photo booths have been popular at wedding receptions in recent years & providing your guests with a couple of free tickets can give them a wedding favor to remember! If you cannot afford a photo booth, then ask your wedding photographer to take pictures of each guest or ask a friend with a digital camera to do it for you.

A bit of creative thinking is all it takes to come up with unique wedding favors that will delight your guests. From packaging to making your own, injecting just a little of your own personality into them will make your favors different & special.

Inspiration can come from many sources, but so long as you coordinate them with your wedding theme or style then it is perfectly possible to have unique wedding favors which your guests will cherish long after the wedding is over.

The Beauty Of Wedding Favors

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: Beauty, favors, Wedding — admin @ 11:22 am

Wedding favors have been around since ancient times. This deep-rooted tradition appears to have originated as a means for the wedding couple to express their gratitude to wedding guests for being part of their wedding day.

Wedding reception favors can also reperesent an extension of the couple’s personalities as wedding favors, very often, reflect the theme of the wedding.

Dealing with a guest list of 150, the task of making the wedding favors may seem daunting. As a result, there are vendors specializing in wedding favors. Such businesses are devoted to the ordering, wrapping & personalizing of wedding favors. Reputable businesses also provide the shipping of the wedding favors to the reception location. It makes perfect sense to order your wedding favors from wedding favors specialty shops as they understand the industry and can help match the favor to your wedding budget.
